Symptoms of gout in the ankle

Gout is an inflammatory joint condition in which urate crystals can trigger a sudden response. An ankle flare may begin quickly, with pain when standing, walking, or moving the joint. The skin can look red and feel hot, and swelling may extend around the ankle.
