Stretch Marks and Sunburn

Stretch marks arise from stretching and deeper changes in skin structure; sunburn is an acute injury from ultraviolet exposure. A tan or burn can darken nearby skin while the marks remain lighter, making them stand out. Burned skin may also feel hot, tender, tight, or itchy. Sun exposure can worsen uneven colour and makes recently treated skin more vulnerable, so a new burn should be healed before any elective procedure is considered.

Leave the sun, cool the skin gently, drink fluids, and use a simple moisturiser when comfortable. Do not pick peeling skin or apply harsh exfoliants. Cover the area with clothing and use broad-spectrum sunscreen on healed skin as directed. Get medical advice for extensive blistering, severe pain, dehydration, fever, confusion, eye symptoms, or signs of infection such as worsening redness, swelling, pus, or increasing tenderness. Arrange review if a colour change persists, a mark bleeds, or the area changes in a way that does not fit a healing burn.
