How to stop stretch marks

Short answer
Stretch marks cannot always be prevented, but early care and selected procedures may soften their colour or texture.
This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

What stretch marks mean
Stretch marks, also called striae, are linear changes in the deeper layer of skin. They may develop during pregnancy, puberty, rapid body change, muscle growth, or with medicines or conditions that affect skin support. New marks can look pink, red, purple, or darker than nearby skin before gradually becoming paler. They are not contagious and do not reflect poor hygiene.
What you can do
Keep skin comfortable with regular moisturising and avoid abrupt changes in weight or training where possible. Creams and oils may reduce dryness but cannot erase established marks. A clinician can assess their age, colour, depth, and your skin tone before discussing Microneedling, Fractional Laser Treatment, RF Microneedling, or Carboxytherapy. Procedures usually require a series of appointments and careful aftercare; results develop gradually rather than immediately.
When to seek care
Seek an assessment if marks appear suddenly without an obvious stretch, cover large areas, or occur alongside easy bruising, muscle weakness, facial rounding, or other new symptoms. Mention any long-term steroid tablets, creams, or injections. A review is also useful when rapid body change is unplanned or when itching, pain, swelling, or skin breakdown accompanies the lines.
Questions for your doctor
Ask which stage the marks are in, what improvement is realistic for your skin tone, how many treatment visits may be considered, and which sun and aftercare measures reduce irritation.
