What should you know about soft lump in neck that moves?

A clinician gently assesses whether the lump moves under the skin, moves with swallowing, or seems attached to deeper tissue. They also consider tenderness, texture, size change, skin appearance, and nearby symptoms such as sore throat, dental problems, hoarseness, or swallowing difficulty.
