What should you know about pulse dye laser rosacea?

Short answer
Pulse dye laser may reduce visible rosacea redness by delivering targeted light to blood vessels beneath the skin.
This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

How it relates to rosacea
Rosacea often presents with facial flushing, persistent redness, visible small vessels, warmth, burning, or sensitive skin. A laser appointment focuses on selected colour in the skin rather than treating every feature of rosacea. It may soften the appearance of redness, but it does not remove the underlying tendency to flush or replace everyday rosacea care.
A clinician will assess your skin tone, current irritation, medicines, tanning, and the areas affected. Eye symptoms, bumps, or pimples may need separate assessment because light treatment aimed at vessels may not address them.
Preparing and caring for your skin
Before treatment, share any history of unusual scarring, cold sores, light sensitivity, or medicines that affect bleeding or healing. Avoid deliberate tanning and follow the clinic's instructions about skincare products. During treatment, protective eyewear is used; cooling may be offered for comfort.
Afterward, temporary swelling, warmth, redness, or purple marks can occur. Use gentle cleansing, moisturiser, and broad-spectrum sun protection as advised. Do not pick at crusting or add irritating exfoliants until the skin has settled. Several appointments may be suggested, depending on the colour and extent of the redness.
When to contact a clinician
Contact the treating clinic if pain is increasing, blisters develop, swelling is marked, or the treated skin becomes increasingly tender or oozes. Seek prompt medical care for breathing difficulty, facial swelling beyond the treated area, or eye pain or vision changes. New or changing facial lesions should be examined rather than treated as rosacea without a diagnosis.
Questions to bring
Ask which rosacea features are being targeted, whether your current flare should settle first, what temporary colour changes to expect, how sun exposure affects timing, and whether IPL Photofacial or medicine such as Azelaic Acid Treatment would address other features.

Questions people ask
Does pulse dye laser cure rosacea?
It may improve the appearance of selected redness and vessels, but rosacea can remain prone to flares and usually needs an ongoing care plan.
Can rosacea pimples be treated with this laser?
Pulse dye laser is mainly directed at vascular redness. Pimples or inflammatory bumps may need a different dermatology treatment.
