What should you know about pug limping?

Short answer
Pug limping is a sign of discomfort, so restrict activity, check for obvious paw problems, and arrange veterinary advice when it persists or is severe.
This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

Understanding a limp
A limp can begin suddenly after a slip, awkward landing, or energetic play, or develop gradually with stiffness. Your pug may shorten the stride, shift weight, hesitate on stairs, or lick a painful area. The source may be the toes, nail, pad, muscle, hip, knee, or another part of the limb. Because the same walking change can have different causes, the limp itself cannot confirm a diagnosis.
Hip osteoarthritis and knee osteoarthritis may present with stiffness or difficulty rising. A fracture can cause pronounced pain and reduced weight-bearing. These are possibilities to assess, not conclusions to make from a video or home examination.
Practical steps
Confine your pug to a comfortable area and use short leash trips only for toileting. Keep floors dry and non-slip. Look gently at the pads, nails, and spaces between the toes for a visible injury; do not pull out a deeply embedded object. Avoid running, jumping, stairs, and play with other dogs. Never use leftover or human pain medicine without veterinary direction. Note the start time, affected leg, triggers, and any change in appetite or behaviour.
When care is urgent
Contact a veterinarian promptly if the limp is severe, your pug will not use the leg, pain is escalating, or swelling, bleeding, deformity, or marked tenderness appears. Emergency assessment is appropriate for collapse, breathing trouble, sudden weakness, dragging a limb, or loss of coordination. A limp after significant trauma also warrants prompt evaluation, even when your pug seems calmer later.
Useful questions
Ask what examination findings matter, whether an X-ray or another test is appropriate, how to transport your pug safely, and what activity limit to follow. Confirm the medicine instructions and the signs that mean the appointment should be brought forward.

Questions people ask
Does every pug limp indicate a joint problem?
No. A limp can arise from the paw, nail, muscle, joint, or bone, and an examination is needed to identify the source.
What details should I record?
Record when it started, what activity came before it, which leg is affected, and whether your pug can bear weight.
