What should you know about post flu fatigue?

Short answer
Post flu fatigue can continue while your body recovers, but worsening or persistent exhaustion needs medical review.
This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

What post flu fatigue can mean
Flu can leave the immune system and muscles recovering after fever, aches and poor sleep have settled. You may notice low energy, reduced stamina, slower thinking or a need for more rest. Dehydration, reduced food intake and returning to work or exercise too quickly can add to the drained feeling. Fatigue after flu is not a diagnosis by itself. Anaemia, thyroid problems, kidney disease, coeliac disease, burnout, alcohol use or another infection can also cause ongoing tiredness, so the wider pattern matters.
Practical steps during recovery
Rest between activities and increase your routine gradually rather than testing your limits on a good day. Drink regularly, eat simple nourishing meals and resume gentle movement when fever and significant body aches have gone. Keep a brief record of sleep, energy, breathlessness, dizziness and any returning fever. Avoid driving or safety-sensitive work if sleepiness affects your attention. A clinician may review medicines, hydration, nutrition and other symptoms, and may arrange an examination or blood tests when the pattern does not improve.
When to seek care
Arrange medical advice if fatigue is not easing, interferes with basic activities, or returns after you seemed better. Seek urgent help for trouble breathing, chest pain, fainting, new confusion, severe weakness, inability to keep fluids down or signs of severe dehydration. A new or persistent fever also warrants assessment, especially if symptoms are getting worse rather than settling.
Questions for your doctor
Ask whether your recovery pattern is expected, whether another illness could explain the fatigue, which activity level is suitable now, and whether medicines or blood tests should be reviewed.
