What should you know about pico light laser?

“Pico” describes the pulse duration, while “light laser” describes the focused light energy used by the device. The wavelength, spot size and energy level determine which pigment or skin feature is addressed. Some plans focus on unwanted pigment; others may be discussed for tattoo pigment or texture, depending on the device and clinical assessment. The name alone does not identify the correct setting or indicate that a treatment suits every skin tone.

Tell the clinician about tanning, active rashes, recent procedures, medicines and previous reactions to lasers. Arrive with clean skin if instructed and avoid applying irritating products without guidance. After treatment, keep the area gently cleansed and moisturised, avoid picking, and reduce sun exposure with shade, clothing and sunscreen. The treated area may be warm or red for a while, and pigment can temporarily look more noticeable.

Contact the clinic when pain, swelling or redness is getting worse, or if you notice blisters, open skin, discharge or a spreading colour change. A changing mole or new unexplained dark patch needs medical assessment rather than cosmetic laser treatment. Get urgent help for breathing difficulty or sudden swelling of the face or throat.

Ask which device and wavelength are planned, what the target is, how your skin tone changes the settings, and whether IPL Photofacial or another approach is more suitable. Ask how long to wait before restarting active skin-care products.
