What this pattern may mean

Postnasal drip is mucus moving from the back of the nose towards the throat, where it can trigger throat clearing or coughing. Allergic rhinitis may add sneezing, itching and watery eyes. Acid reflux can irritate the throat even without obvious heartburn, and asthma may cause cough, wheeze or chest tightness. A hoarse voice can develop when repeated coughing or drainage irritates the voice box. A cough that continues after a cold can become a chronic cough and should not be self-diagnosed from the symptom pattern alone.
