What should you know about peeling after microneedling?

Microneedling creates controlled tiny channels in the skin. The treated surface may feel warm, tight, rough, or dry while the barrier repairs itself. Flaking can be more noticeable when the treatment was deeper, when an irritating product was applied afterward, or when the skin was already sensitive.

Peeling should gradually settle rather than become increasingly painful. It is not a measure of collagen production or treatment quality. Use only the aftercare products supplied or approved by the clinician who performed the procedure. Cleanse gently with lukewarm water, pat dry, and apply a bland moisturiser if advised. Leave flakes in place; do not scrub, peel, wax, shave over tender skin, or restart acids and retinoids until the skin has recovered as directed. Protect the area from sunlight and heat.
