What should you know about PDO smooth threads?

Smooth threads have no barbs or cones to grip and reposition tissue. A clinician places them in a planned pattern beneath the skin, where the treatment may support a gradual collagen response. They are considered when the goal is refinement of texture, mild laxity or a small area of support. The result depends on skin structure, placement, the number and pattern of threads, and your healing response.

Because they do not anchor tissue in the same way as lifting threads, smooth threads are not a substitute for surgery and may not suit marked sagging. The clinician should explain whether your concern is better addressed by a thread lift or another option.
