Pain during sex with white discharge

Pain during sex with white discharge can reflect friction, irritation, or infection, but discharge appearance alone cannot identify the cause. Normal discharge can vary, while a new change in smell, texture, amount, or associated symptoms merits a clinical review.

Thick discharge with itching or redness can occur with vaginal irritation or a yeast infection, but similar symptoms have other causes. Thin or foul-smelling discharge with pelvic pain may need assessment for Pelvic Inflammatory Disease. Pain without discharge can still involve Endometriosis, Vulvodynia, or Lichen Sclerosus. A swab may be needed to distinguish causes.
