Ovulation pain but no egg-white mucus

Stretchy, clear mucus is one possible sign of rising oestrogen. It may be diluted, remain near the cervix, or change quickly. Medicines, hormonal contraception, dehydration and vaginal products can also alter what you notice. Pain may occur before, during or after ovulation, so it is a separate clue rather than a confirmation.

If the pain is recurring or outside your usual pattern, consider other pelvic causes. Endometriosis can present with pelvic pain, while ovarian cysts may also cause discomfort. The lack of egg-white mucus does not by itself indicate either condition.

Write down the pain day, side, character and duration, then describe discharge using more than one category: dry, sticky, creamy, watery or stretchy. Keep notes on bleeding, medications and contraception. This gives a clinician a clearer cycle picture than the phrase egg-white mucus alone.

For mild discomfort, try a warm pack and rest if these are safe for you. If you are tracking fertility, discuss combining cycle observations with another method. Arrange review when pain repeats, cycles become unpredictable, or pregnancy has not occurred despite regular attempts.

Seek urgent care for sudden intense pain, fainting, fever, heavy bleeding, vomiting that will not settle, or pain when pregnancy is possible. Contact a clinician soon for persistent pain, pain during sex, painful periods that limit activities, or a new abnormal discharge.
