Nu Pico laser: what to know

A picosecond laser delivers energy in pulses lasting far less than a nanosecond. The energy can fragment some pigment particles or create a controlled effect in the skin, depending on the wavelength and mode used. Have the area assessed, including any history of melasma, pigment changes after irritation, cold sores, keloid scars, or medicines that increase light sensitivity. Avoid tanning and follow the clinic's instructions about skincare before treatment. During a session, protective eyewear is required. Afterwards, use gentle cleansing, moisturiser, and diligent sun protection as advised. Temporary redness, warmth, swelling, darkening, or lightening can occur; do not pick crusts or add strong products while the skin is recovering. Contact the treating clinic for worsening pain, increasing swelling, blistering, pus, spreading redness, or pigment change that continues to worsen after the expected recovery period.
