What should you know about neck stretch marks?

Stretch marks, or striae, may begin as pink, red, purple, or brown lines and later become lighter or silvery. They form when the deeper supporting structure of skin is stretched or changes quickly. Growth, weight change, muscle development, pregnancy, and some medicines can be associated with them; sometimes no single trigger is clear.

They are not caused by poor hygiene and are not contagious. Fresh marks may itch or feel slightly sensitive, while older marks are often flatter and less noticeable.
