How Meniere's disease can manifest

An attack may create a strong sense that the room is turning, often with nausea or unsteadiness. Hearing can sound dull or reduced, while ringing or fullness may occur in the same ear. Symptoms can settle between attacks, although imbalance or hearing difficulty may linger. This combination is suggestive rather than conclusive: migraine, infections, medication effects and other inner-ear conditions can cause overlapping complaints. At the first sign of spinning, sit or lie somewhere secure and focus on a fixed point if that helps. Avoid driving, heights, swimming alone and machinery until your balance returns. Keep a record of the ear involved, hearing changes, ringing, pressure, nausea, recent illness and medicines.
