How long does Meniere's disease last?

Some people have clusters of attacks followed by periods with fewer symptoms. Others notice ongoing ringing, fullness, imbalance or reduced hearing between episodes. The length of an individual attack does not by itself prove the cause. Symptoms can change over time, and hearing may fluctuate or become less variable. A new pattern, a steadily worsening problem or symptoms in both ears should be reviewed rather than explained by an old diagnosis.

Write down when an episode starts and ends, how long spinning lasts, and whether hearing, ringing or pressure changes with it. Get prompt advice if vomiting prevents fluids, vertigo continues much longer than your usual episode, or symptoms are changing rapidly. Urgency depends on the warning signs and newness of the pattern, not simply on how common an attack is.
