Men and Dandruff: What to Know

Dandruff causes visible flakes and may cause an itchy scalp, but it is not a sign of poor hygiene. Seborrheic Dermatitis can produce more persistent scale, redness, or greasy areas around the scalp, hairline, ears, eyebrows, or beard. Dryness, product irritation, psoriasis, and other scalp conditions can look similar. Note whether the scale is fine or thick, whether the skin is red, and whether facial or beard areas are involved.
