Medicine to stop vomiting while travelling

Motion can confuse signals from the inner ear, eyes and brain, causing nausea or vomiting. Similar symptoms may instead reflect [Food Poisoning](/conditions/food-poisoning/), gastroenteritis, migraine or another condition. Medicines used for motion sickness can cause drowsiness, dry mouth or blurred vision, so the product and timing should match your plans. They may be unsuitable with some medicines or medical conditions.

Ask a pharmacist about a travel-sickness medicine before departure, especially if you are pregnant, travelling with a child, or managing glaucoma, prostate problems or breathing conditions. Follow the label and test how it affects you before driving. Sit where movement is least noticeable, look at the horizon, keep air flowing, and choose light meals. Sip fluids regularly; avoid alcohol and large, greasy meals.

Seek urgent care for severe abdominal pain, blood or green material in vomit, confusion, fainting, severe headache with a stiff neck, or inability to keep fluids down. Get medical advice if you pass very little urine or remain dizzy after drinking. These signs can point to dehydration or an illness unrelated to travel.
