What wheezing can mean
Wheezing is a musical sound caused by narrowed or inflamed airways. Asthma, acute bronchitis, COPD, bronchiolitis, and allergic conditions can produce it. Sudden wheezing with swelling of the lips or tongue, rash, or dizziness can be anaphylaxis and needs emergency treatment. The sound alone cannot identify the cause.

Children with noisy breathing or exhaustion need urgent review.
