Marvelon combines oestrogen and progestogen to prevent ovulation and alter cervical mucus and the womb lining. It may make bleeding more predictable and can ease painful periods for some people. A clinician must check factors such as migraine with aura, previous blood clots, smoking, high blood pressure, liver disease, and medicines that interact with hormonal contraception. It does not protect against sexually transmitted infections.

Take the tablets in the order and schedule provided with the pack. If you miss a tablet, vomit soon after taking one, or have severe diarrhoea, follow the product instructions or ask a pharmacist because contraceptive protection may be affected. Tell your clinician about new medicines and changes in health. The combined pill can also be prescribed in discussions about Irregular Periods, Painful Periods, Endometriosis, Ovarian Cysts, or Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, but it is not a treatment for every cause.

Get urgent help for sudden chest pain, breathlessness, coughing blood, severe headache, vision or speech changes, or painful swelling in one leg. Arrange a review for persistent troublesome bleeding, new migraine symptoms, marked mood changes, or a blood-pressure concern.
