Light sensitivity, dizziness and fatigue

Migraine may cause light sensitivity, dizziness, tiredness, nausea, or visual symptoms before or without a strong headache. Dizziness after standing can relate to dehydration, low blood pressure, or not eating; medicines and poor sleep can add fatigue. Screen strain and an uncorrected prescription may make light uncomfortable, while conjunctivitis usually brings redness or discharge. Vertigo, faintness, or a sense of imbalance are different descriptions worth giving to a clinician.

Sit or lie down when dizzy and stand slowly. Drink fluids and eat regularly if you can, take breaks from screens, and use even, comfortable lighting. Avoid driving, heights, or machinery while symptoms affect balance or alertness. Note triggers, duration, headache, hearing symptoms, fever, medicines, and whether symptoms follow standing. Arrange a medical review if the combination is recurring, worsening, or limiting work, study, or daily tasks.

Seek emergency care for sudden severe headache, new weakness or numbness, trouble speaking, fainting, confusion, chest pain, severe breathlessness, or sudden vision loss. Fever with stiff neck, marked drowsiness, or light sensitivity requires immediate assessment because meningitis can present this way. A painful red eye or a new persistent loss of balance also merits urgent review.
