What should you know about left side head ache?

One-sided head pain may throb or worsen with movement and may occur with nausea or sensitivity to light and sound. Tightness around the scalp, jaw, neck, or shoulders can fit a tension pattern. A blocked or runny nose, facial pressure, or reduced smell can occur with Allergic Rhinitis, Common Cold, or Chronic Sinusitis. Heat, inadequate fluids, anxiety, disrupted sleep, and missed meals may also contribute. Fever or a broader illness can occur with COVID-19 or Dengue Fever. A headache pattern alone cannot diagnose any of these conditions.

Rest in a quiet, dim room if light or noise worsens the pain. Drink fluids, eat if you have missed a meal, and cool down after heat exposure. Gentle neck relaxation and a regular sleep routine may help when tension is involved. Keep a diary of timing, severity, food, sleep, screen use, stress, periods, and other symptoms. Use pain medicine only as directed and ask a pharmacist if you have other conditions, take regular medicines, or need frequent doses.

Get emergency help for a sudden severe headache, new weakness or numbness, facial drooping, confusion, seizure, fainting, trouble speaking, vision loss, stiff neck with fever, or a headache after a serious head injury. Arrange medical review for a new pattern, headaches that keep returning, persistent vomiting, fever, or pain that is progressively worsening. Heat exposure with confusion or collapse needs urgent care.
