What should you know about left Meniere's disease?

Meniere's disease involves changes in the inner ear, which helps control hearing and balance. Episodes can bring a spinning sensation, nausea, ear fullness, ringing, and hearing that changes over time. Symptoms may settle between attacks, but balance can remain unsettled for a while. A left-sided description reflects the ear thought to be involved; dizziness has many other possible causes, so a diagnosis needs a clinical assessment rather than symptoms alone.

Arrange a GP consultation or ear, nose, and throat assessment for repeated vertigo with hearing symptoms. A hearing test can document each ear and help distinguish inner-ear patterns from other causes. Keep a diary of episode timing, duration, triggers, hearing changes, ringing, headache, medicines, and vomiting. During an attack, sit or lie somewhere safe, avoid driving, and ask someone to stay nearby if you are at risk of falling.

Seek emergency help for sudden hearing loss, new facial weakness, trouble speaking, one-sided weakness, severe new headache, fainting, or inability to walk safely.
