Leaking urine without knowing it in women

Some women notice damp underwear without the usual urge to pass urine. The bladder may be filling without a clear warning, or small amounts may escape when the bladder outlet is under pressure. Constipation, pelvic floor changes after pregnancy or menopause, nerve conditions, reduced mobility, and some medicines can affect sensation or control. A urinary tract infection may cause leakage with burning, urgency, cloudy urine, or pelvic discomfort, although symptoms vary. Diabetes can also influence bladder nerves and urine production. The pattern, timing, and associated symptoms help a clinician distinguish these possibilities.

Record wet episodes, toilet visits, drinks, urgency, pain, and bowel movements for several days. Drink regularly rather than cutting fluids sharply, and try scheduled toilet visits if you do not feel bladder signals reliably. Treat constipation with appropriate fluids, fibre, and movement unless a clinician has advised otherwise. Use breathable continence products for confidence, changing them when damp. Seek prompt advice for fever, back or side pain, blood in the urine, painful urination, vomiting, or rapidly worsening leakage.
