Large Pores and Scars Treatment: What to Know

Pores do not open and close like doors. Oil, dead skin, inflammation, and reduced skin firmness can make their openings appear wider. Acne can leave either uneven texture or colour changes; these are scars and marks, but they are not treated in exactly the same way. Sun exposure can make texture and contrast more visible over time.

Use a gentle cleanser, non-comedogenic moisturiser, and daily broad-spectrum sunscreen. A dermatologist may discuss a topical retinoid for blocked pores and acne-related texture. Microneedling can be considered for selected indented scars because controlled needle injury encourages remodelling; it is not suitable for every active skin condition. Avoid squeezing pores or picking acne, which can worsen inflammation and marks.

Arrange a skin assessment if scars are painful, spreading, frequently inflamed, or changing quickly. Seek prompt care for a new bleeding or crusting spot, a sore that does not heal, or severe swelling after a procedure. A clinician can distinguish acne activity, scarring, pigmentation, and other causes before treatment.
