Short answer

Kalme rosacea refers to a chronic tendency toward facial flushing, redness, sensitivity and sometimes acne-like bumps.

This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

How rosacea may appear

Rosacea commonly affects the central face, including the cheeks, nose, chin and forehead. Some people notice episodes of warmth and flushing that become easier to trigger, while others have persistent redness, visible small vessels, burning or stinging. Acne-like pimples can occur without the same underlying process as acne. Symptoms may be aggravated by heat, sunlight, alcohol, spicy food, stress or irritating skincare, although triggers vary between people. Rosacea can also affect the eyes, causing dryness, grittiness or irritated eyelids.

Practical care

Keep a brief trigger diary, use a gentle cleanser and moisturiser, and protect your face from sunlight and heat. Avoid scrubbing and introduce new products one at a time. A clinician may recommend prescription treatment such as [Azelaic Acid Treatment](/treatments/medical-dermatology/azelaic-acid-therapy/). Persistent redness or visible vessels may be discussed for [IPL Photofacial](/treatments/laser-and-energy/ipl-photofacial/) or [Pulsed Dye Laser Treatment](/treatments/laser-and-energy/pulsed-dye-laser-treatment/).

When to seek care

Arrange an assessment for new or persistent facial redness, recurrent flushing, burning or pimple-like bumps, especially when symptoms interfere with comfort. Seek prompt eye care for eye pain, light sensitivity, blurred vision or marked redness. Sudden facial swelling with breathing difficulty needs emergency help rather than routine rosacea care.

Questions for your doctor

Does this pattern fit rosacea or another cause of redness? Which triggers should I prioritise? Would topical treatment help, and is a light or laser procedure appropriate for my skin and symptoms?

Questions people ask

No. Rosacea may cause acne-like pimples, but its triggers and treatment approach can differ from acne.

Can skincare trigger rosacea symptoms?

Yes. Fragrance, harsh cleansers, heat and friction can aggravate sensitive facial skin.
