Is thread lift done with polydioxanone thread?

Polydioxanone is often shortened to PDO. During a thread lift, a clinician places threads through small entry points under the skin. Some threads are smooth and some have features that help hold tissue; the design chosen depends on the treatment area and intended effect. The material gradually breaks down, while the surrounding tissue heals. This is a minimally invasive procedure, but it still involves needles, tissue handling, and recovery.

Discuss previous procedures, medicines, bleeding tendencies, dental work, skin infection, and plans for strenuous activity. Follow instructions about washing, facial movements, sleeping position, and pressure on the treated area. Swelling, bruising, tightness, asymmetry, or dimpling may be seen during recovery. Do not massage or manipulate a thread unless the treating clinician specifically tells you to do so.

Contact the clinic if pain, swelling, redness, or warmth is worsening, if a thread becomes exposed, or if drainage develops. Prompt review is needed for marked asymmetry, persistent numbness, or difficulty opening the mouth. Seek urgent care for breathing difficulty, severe allergic symptoms, or rapidly spreading facial swelling.
