How long does covid headache last?

Headache during COVID-19 can occur alongside fever, congestion, tiredness, poor sleep or reduced fluid intake. Those factors can keep pain going even as other symptoms ease. A lingering headache does not by itself prove ongoing infection or Long COVID. Migraine, sinus inflammation, a common cold, dehydration, heat exhaustion, dengue fever or anxiety can also cause headache, so the pattern and accompanying symptoms matter.

Note when the headache began, where it hurts, how severe it feels, whether light or movement worsens it, and whether fever, vomiting, stiff neck or neurological symptoms are present. This helps a clinician decide whether examination or testing is needed.

Rest, drink fluids regularly if you can, eat small meals and reduce bright light or prolonged screen use. Use only pain medicine that is suitable for you and follow the label or clinician's directions; avoid taking it repeatedly for a prolonged period without advice.
