Can home remedies cure asthma?

Asthma is a long-term airway condition with symptoms that may settle and return. Cough, wheezing or chest tightness can be triggered by allergens, smoke, exercise, cold air or infections. A quiet period does not necessarily mean the airway tendency has disappeared, and stopping treatment without advice can allow symptoms to return.

Use prescribed medicines as directed and keep an up-to-date action plan. Limit exposure to smoke, vaping aerosols, dust and personal triggers; wash bedding regularly if house dust mites are a concern. Record symptoms, night waking and reliever use so your clinician can adjust care when needed.

Gentle activity may be appropriate when asthma is controlled, with any warm-up and pre-exercise medicine used as advised. Avoid herbal or steam remedies that delay effective treatment or irritate the airways.

Call emergency services for severe breathlessness, blue or grey lips, confusion, inability to speak comfortably, or worsening symptoms despite the action plan. Book a review when symptoms keep returning, disturb sleep, limit activity or need reliever medicine more often than advised.
