Headache in the forehead and eyes

Pain spanning the forehead and eyes may follow screen glare, close work, tiredness or tension in the brow and jaw. Migraine can affect the front of the head and may include nausea, light sensitivity or visual symptoms. A blocked nose, facial pressure or recent respiratory illness can accompany sinus inflammation. Not drinking enough, sweating in hot weather or skipping food can lower your tolerance for headache. These patterns overlap, so location alone is not diagnostic.

Consider whether both eyes are affected, whether vision is blurred or double, whether eye movement hurts, and whether there is redness, discharge, fever or nasal blockage.

Rest in a calm, dim space and pause screen use. Adjust the room temperature, drink fluids and have a regular meal. Try a cool compress on the forehead or closed eyes, without pressing on the eyeballs. If you use contact lenses, remove them while discomfort or visual change is present. For medicine advice, speak with a pharmacist and follow the label; avoid frequent self-treatment without review.

Seek emergency care for sudden severe headache, sudden vision loss, weakness, confusion, fainting, seizure, new speech trouble, or a stiff neck with fever. Get urgent help for severe eye pain, a red swollen eye, double vision, or pain after an injury. Arrange a clinician appointment if the headache persists, recurs, changes pattern or limits your normal routine.
