Headache in the eyebrow bone

The brow sits above a sinus cavity, so congestion, facial pressure and pain that changes when bending may occur with a cold, allergic rhinitis or sinus inflammation. Migraine can cause one-sided or front-of-head pain with nausea or sensitivity to light. Frowning, jaw clenching and prolonged screen use can tighten the muscles around the forehead and brow. The site of pain cannot confirm which cause is present.

Check for blocked or runny nose, fever, watery eyes, light sensitivity, nausea, jaw soreness and changes in vision. Note whether pressure, touch, movement or bending changes the pain.

Rest your eyes and forehead, take regular screen breaks and use comfortable lighting. Fluids, regular meals and a cool compress may help. If nasal symptoms are present, saline rinsing may be useful when done with sterile or appropriately prepared water. A pharmacist can advise on suitable pain relief or allergy treatment; follow directions and do not combine products with the same ingredient.

Get emergency help for a sudden severe headache, new weakness, confusion, fainting, seizure, stiff neck with fever, or loss of vision. Seek urgent care for a swollen or very red eye, severe eye pain, double vision, or headache after injury. Arrange a clinician review when pain persists, repeatedly returns, is worsening, or comes with ongoing fever or facial swelling.
