Hair Growth After Telogen Effluvium

Telogen effluvium is a hair-cycle response in which more follicles than usual enter a resting phase and later shed. It may follow illness, major stress, surgery, substantial dietary change or another physical strain. Shedding is often spread across the scalp rather than forming one sharply defined bald patch. New hairs can appear as short, fine regrowth, while the longer strands continue to fall for a period. The condition presents with diffuse hair shedding or thinning; shedding alone does not establish its cause.

Think back to changes in health, stress, medicines and nutrition before shedding began, and share that timeline with a clinician. Eat regular balanced meals and avoid crash dieting. Handle wet hair gently, reduce tight pulling and limit repeated heat or chemical processing while it is fragile.
