Front left headache: what to know

One-sided pain can occur with migraine or tension-related muscle strain, while eye strain, jaw tension and neck posture may focus discomfort near the forehead. Allergic rhinitis, chronic sinusitis and a common cold can cause pressure around the face and forehead, often with nasal symptoms.

Dehydration, heat exhaustion, COVID-19 and dengue fever can include headache with broader symptoms such as thirst, fever, weakness or body aches. Generalised anxiety disorder may contribute through sustained muscle tension, but left-sided pain does not establish anxiety or any other condition.

Rest in a calm, dim environment if light or noise worsens the pain. Drink fluids, cool down after heat exposure, loosen your jaw and take screen breaks. Record the side, exact location, severity, duration, triggers, nausea, light sensitivity, fever, nasal symptoms and medicines.

Use a pain reliever only according to its label or a clinician's advice. Book an appointment if the pattern is new, recurring, becoming more frequent or limiting work, sleep or movement. Examination helps separate migraine-like pain from eye, sinus, neck or systemic causes.

Seek emergency help for abrupt severe pain, weakness or numbness on either side, speech or vision changes, confusion, fainting, seizure, repeated vomiting, or pain after a significant injury. Fever with neck stiffness or a rapidly worsening headache needs prompt medical assessment.
