Short answer

Fraxis RF microneedling uses fine needles and radiofrequency heat to remodel selected skin layers and improve texture, scars, or laxity.

This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

At a glance

Treatment type
Device-based microneedling with radiofrequency energy
Common sensations
Warmth, prickling, tenderness, or tightness
Results
Gradual change during skin healing and remodeling

How the treatment works

A handheld device places insulated or non-insulated needles at a planned depth. Radiofrequency energy then creates heat beneath the surface, while the needle openings stimulate a wound-healing response. The clinician adjusts depth and energy for the area being treated, such as the face, neck, or acne-scarred skin.

Redness, swelling, pinpoint bleeding, warmth, or tenderness can occur afterward. Results develop gradually as collagen is reorganised; the number of sessions depends on the concern, skin response, and treatment settings. Fraxis is a device-based form of [RF Microneedling](/treatments/laser-and-energy/rf-microneedling/), and it differs from traditional [Microneedling](/treatments/aesthetic-procedures/microneedling/) because it adds radiofrequency heat.

Preparing and recovering

Tell the clinician about active rashes, cold sores, keloid scarring, implanted electronic devices, medicines that affect bleeding, and recent tanning. Arrive with clean skin and follow instructions about pausing irritating products. After treatment, use the recommended gentle cleanser, moisturiser, and sun protection; avoid picking, intense heat, and harsh exfoliation until the skin has settled.

Ask which device settings are intended for your concern, how many visits may be considered, and what downtime is realistic for your skin. The [Fractional RF Microneedling Device](/technology/fractional-rf-device/) page explains the technology category.

When to seek care

Contact the treating clinic if pain, swelling, redness, blistering, or crusting is worsening rather than settling, or if you notice pus or fever. Seek prompt medical assessment for spreading redness, marked facial swelling, breathing difficulty, or an eye-area change in vision.

Questions for your doctor

Which skin concern are you targeting, what needle depth and energy will be used, and what alternatives fit my skin type? What aftercare should I follow, and which changes would require an urgent review?

Questions people ask

Is Fraxis RF microneedling the same as ordinary microneedling?

It uses needles like ordinary microneedling but also delivers radiofrequency heat beneath the skin.

Can everyone have RF microneedling?

Not necessarily. A clinician should review active skin disease, scarring history, medicines, implants, and recent sun exposure first.
