Finger stitches bring the edges of a suitable cut together while it heals, but the wound must first be assessed for tendon, nerve, blood-vessel, bone, and infection problems.

What stitches involve

A clinician cleans the injury, checks sensation and movement, and decides whether closure is appropriate. Care after placement

Keep the dressing clean and follow the instructions for changing it. Protect the finger from soaking, impact, and unnecessary bending, while gently moving it if advised.
