What should you know about excessive peeing and thirst?

Passing urine often can cause thirst when the body loses more water than usual. It can also happen when excess glucose draws water into urine, as in Type 1 Diabetes or Type 2 Diabetes; Prediabetes may cause few symptoms. Caffeine, alcohol, diuretic medicines, pregnancy, and urinary irritation can change urination patterns. Chronic Kidney Disease may affect fluid regulation. Dehydration and Heat Exhaustion can produce thirst, although urine may become darker and less frequent as fluid loss advances.

Record drinks, urination times, urine colour, caffeine, alcohol, and medicines for a short period. Drink to thirst and replace fluids after sweating, while avoiding excessive intake forced beyond comfort. Do not stop prescribed medicines without advice. Arrange a medical appointment when the pattern lasts, wakes you repeatedly, causes fatigue, blurred vision, weight change, burning urination, or affects daily life. Testing may include blood glucose, urine, kidney function, and a medication review.

Seek urgent care for confusion, fainting, severe weakness, repeated vomiting, inability to drink, deep or rapid breathing, or rapidly worsening symptoms. Thirst and frequent urination with sudden weight loss need prompt assessment, particularly if symptoms developed quickly.
