Sometimes the result remains uncertain at the first visit, so a planned repeat scan or blood test provides the missing information.

Contact a healthcare service promptly if you have a positive pregnancy test alongside pelvic pain or bleeding. Tell the team about previous pelvic inflammatory disease, surgery, or an ectopic pregnancy. Write down when symptoms began and whether pain is on one side. Attend the recommended follow-up even if discomfort settles, because symptoms can change while the location is still being assessed.

Call emergency services or go to an emergency department for sudden severe pain, fainting, collapse, extreme dizziness, shoulder-tip pain, or heavy bleeding. These signs may indicate internal bleeding. Do not wait for a routine appointment if you feel weak, confused, or unable to stand safely.
