A trained clinician moves the pen across cleansed skin while its fine needles make repeated, shallow punctures. This controlled injury can stimulate repair and may soften uneven texture, fine lines, or some acne-scar changes over a course of treatments. It is different from a cream because the device works through the skin surface rather than only sitting on it.

Treatment choice depends on your skin type, concern, active inflammation, tendency to form raised scars, and recent exposure to strong sun. Microneedling may be considered for concerns such as melasma or sun-damaged skin, but pigment-prone skin needs careful settings and aftercare.
