What should you know about dogsan surgical sutures?

Sutures support the edges of a cut or surgical incision so the body can repair the tissue. Some are absorbable and gradually break down inside the body; others remain visible and need removal by a clinician. The choice depends on tissue type, tension, depth, contamination, and the expected healing process.

A stitch line may feel tight, itchy, or mildly tender as it heals. Sutures do not replace wound protection: stretching, soaking, friction, or picking can pull the edges apart and disturb healing.

Follow the treating clinician's dressing and cleaning instructions. Keep the area protected, avoid picking at knots or scabs, and limit movements that pull on the wound. Do not soak the site or apply creams unless advised. Attend the planned review so the wound and removal timing can be checked.
