Does sinusitis cause earache?

The sinuses and middle ear connect with the back of the nose through narrow passages. Swelling and mucus from sinusitis can interfere with pressure equalisation, creating fullness, popping, muffled hearing, or aching. Congestion may make the discomfort more noticeable when you bend forward or change position. Earache can also come from an ear infection, wax, jaw tension, dental problems, or another cause, so the symptom alone does not establish its source.
