Dizziness after miscarriage

Bleeding can lower circulating blood volume and leave you light-headed, weak, pale, or aware of a fast heartbeat. Not replacing fluids, vomiting, fever, or going without food can add to the problem. Strong pain, anxiety, grief, and some medicines may also cause faintness. Dizziness with increasing pelvic pain, fever, unpleasant-smelling discharge, or bleeding that is becoming heavier may signal a complication requiring review.

A clinician may ask when the dizziness began, how much you are bleeding, whether pregnancy tissue has passed, and whether you could be dehydrated. Lie down or sit when dizzy, avoid climbing stairs alone, and have someone nearby if you need to walk. Sip fluids and eat something gentle if you are able. Seek urgent help for fainting, severe or one-sided pain, heavy or rapidly increasing bleeding, chest pain, difficulty breathing, confusion, marked weakness, fever with chills, or feeling suddenly much worse. Do not drive if you feel faint. If you are alone and might collapse, call emergency services.

Ask whether your bleeding and pain pattern is expected, whether you need an examination or scan, how to take prescribed medicines, and what follow-up confirms that the miscarriage is complete. Tell them about any previous fainting, anaemia, medical conditions, or pregnancy complications.
