Differin for large pores: what to know

Pore visibility is influenced by oil, dead-cell buildup, inflammation, and loss of skin firmness. Adapalene helps regulate shedding within follicles, which may reduce blocked pores and uneven surface texture. It cannot change the basic opening of a follicle or reverse every cause of visible pores. Acne and sun-damaged skin can also alter texture, so a clinician may check for those contributors rather than treating the appearance alone.

Use a thin layer on clean, dry skin exactly as directed. Introduce it gradually if advised, moisturise regularly, and avoid combining it at first with abrasive scrubs, strong exfoliating acids, or other products that sting. Wear sunscreen during the day, since ultraviolet exposure contributes to texture changes and irritation can make redness more visible. If congestion or acne is present, ask whether adapalene is suitable for that problem. Topical retinoids and microneedling have different roles and should not be treated as interchangeable options.

Seek medical advice for marked swelling, blistering, severe burning, or a rash that continues after you stop. Book an assessment if enlarged-looking pores appear with persistent acne, painful nodules, sudden texture change, or widespread scaling.
