What should you know about a Valleylab diathermy machine?

Diathermy is a clinical term for using high-frequency electrical energy to create controlled heat. In dermatology, that heat may divide a small area of tissue, seal tiny blood vessels, or destroy a targeted surface growth. The device itself does not diagnose a lesion or decide which setting is appropriate; the clinician selects the technique after examining the skin.

The treatment may be called electrosurgery or hyfrecation, depending on the method and the condition being treated. An electrosurgical unit can use different modes, electrodes, and power settings, so the machine name alone does not describe your procedure. The area may be cleaned and numbed first, and a smoke-evacuation system may be used when tissue is treated.
