Dianette Combined Pill

Dianette combines an oestrogen with an anti-androgen. It can reduce the effect of androgens on the skin and hair follicles, so a clinician may prescribe it for severe acne or troublesome excess hair when other approaches have not been suitable. It also prevents ovulation and changes cervical mucus, but it is not appropriate for everyone. It does not protect against sexually transmitted infections.

Take each tablet as directed and follow the pack instructions for missed tablets, vomiting or diarrhoea. Tell the prescriber if you smoke, have migraine with aura, a history of blood clots, liver disease, high blood pressure, or are taking other medicines. Review whether symptoms are improving and discuss how long treatment is needed. Get emergency help for sudden chest pain, breathlessness, coughing blood, one-sided leg swelling or pain, sudden weakness, trouble speaking, or a severe unusual headache. Contact a clinician promptly for jaundice, severe abdominal pain, a new migraine pattern, or very high blood pressure symptoms. Do not restart Dianette after a prolonged break without checking that it remains suitable.
