A report showing osteoporosis means bone mineral density is substantially reduced at the measured site. It does not reveal every reason for bone loss or tell you exactly when a fracture might occur. Your clinician will consider the hip and spine measurements, previous fractures, medicines, falls, family history and conditions that affect bone metabolism.
