Dermapod microdermabrasion: what to know

Microdermabrasion uses a device to abrade and remove some surface cells, often with suction. A Dermapod is a device-based approach rather than a diagnosis, and the experience depends on the tip, pressure, passes, and area treated. It may temporarily make rough texture feel smoother, but it does not correct every cause of pigmentation, acne, scarring, or dryness. Skin that is sunburned, inflamed, broken, infected, or unusually reactive may need a different plan.

Tell the practitioner about active rashes, cold sores, acne medication, recent waxing, peels, laser treatment, and products that cause stinging. Arrive with clean skin and avoid picking or aggressive exfoliation. Afterward, cleanse gently, apply a simple moisturiser, and use sun protection. Delay scrubs, strong acids, retinoids, and heat exposure until advised. A chemical peel is a different exfoliating treatment; do not combine or compare them by name alone without discussing the depth and purpose.

Contact a clinician if pain, swelling, warmth, blistering, pus, fever, or spreading redness develops. Persistent burning, marked sensitivity, or a new area of dark or light pigmentation also warrants review. Do not repeat treatment while an unexpected reaction is active.
