Microneedling can prompt the skin’s repair response and may improve the appearance of selected acne scars, fine lines, uneven texture and some pigmentation concerns. A pen can make treatment more precise around contours and may allow different settings across an area. A roller applies its needles through a rolling motion, which can create more drag on the skin. Neither tool is suitable for every concern; active acne, infection, eczema flares or a tendency to form raised scars should be discussed before treatment.

Choose a qualified medical provider who can assess your skin, explain needle depth and use a sterile, single-use cartridge where appropriate. Before treatment, disclose medicines, cold-sore history, pigment changes after injury and recent sun exposure. Afterward, use the recommended gentle cleanser and moisturiser, avoid picking, and protect treated skin from sunlight. Do not apply irritating acids, retinoids or fragranced products until your clinician says the barrier has recovered. Results develop gradually as the skin remodels, so a treatment plan may involve more than one session.

Contact the treating clinic if swelling, heat, pain, crusting or redness is worsening instead of settling, or if you notice pus or fever. Seek urgent medical help for facial swelling affecting breathing, rapidly spreading redness, severe pain or a serious allergic reaction.
