Bone cement is a material mixed during a procedure and placed where the surgeon needs fixation or support. In joint replacement it can fill the space between an implant and prepared bone. In procedures such as kyphoplasty or vertebroplasty, cement may be introduced into a weakened vertebra. The exact product, amount, and technique depend on the operation and the patient's bone and medical history.

Ask the surgical team which cemented or uncemented approach is planned and why it fits your case. Share allergies, prior orthopaedic operations, infection symptoms, heart or lung conditions, and all medicines. Follow wound care, weight-bearing, and rehabilitation instructions after surgery; the cement itself does not replace the need for graduated recovery.
