Dengue medicine name list: what to know

There is no single over-the-counter list that is suitable for everyone with suspected dengue. A clinician may recommend an appropriate fever or pain medicine after considering your age, pregnancy status, allergies, liver health, other medicines, and bleeding symptoms. Avoid starting aspirin or anti-inflammatory pain medicines unless a clinician specifically tells you to use them, because they may increase bleeding risk. A medicine name alone cannot confirm dengue; fever, headache, muscle aches, joint pain, chills, or easy bruising need context and assessment.

Sip water or an oral rehydration drink regularly, rest, and record your temperature and any new symptoms. Check labels before taking combination cold remedies so you do not accidentally duplicate an ingredient. Do not share prescription medicines. Arrange a GP Consultation if fever or body pain develops after possible mosquito exposure, especially if you cannot drink normally or have a medical condition that affects bleeding or fluid balance.

Seek urgent medical care for severe abdominal pain, repeated vomiting, bleeding from the nose or gums, blood in vomit or stool, unusual sleepiness, faintness, breathing difficulty, confusion, or inability to keep fluids down. Get prompt advice if a fever changes suddenly or you develop easy bruising. These signs can require examination and monitoring even when the initial illness seemed mild.
